Paw Prints on the Heart

Doris Day said, “I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things that you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source.”

W.H. Auden said, “In times of joy, all of us wished we possessed a tail we could wag.”

How true! But then there is this:

A friend called me today and told me that his beloved fur-baby had passed. My heart ached for him. Oh no! Only another dog person can really understand that pain. 😒

It really sucks that dogs have such short lives to live when they have so much love to give. Why is that? Ever think about that? Then again, Romans 9:20 comes to mind: “Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” God knows, and He doesn’t make mistakes. I can rest in that.

So here’s to this man’s best friend. Here’s to rescuing a dog, only to find out that they actually rescued you. Here’s to my friend in his hour of darkness, to whom this post is dedicated; may you soon find peace. Here’s to paw prints on the heart.
