Just Beardiful

Don’t hate me because
I’m beardiful

Anyone who has known me for a while knows that I have been bearded for most of my life. Over the years my beard has been the focus of some good-natured humour. For example, I have often joked that I wear a beard for religious reasons. In my way of reasoning, if God gave me the ability to grow a beard, He must have meant for me to wear a beard. However, an uncle once reminded me that God also gave me the ability to father hundred’s of children, but He probably didn’t mean for me to do so. So much for that argument.

Recently one of my brothers gave me a shirt with a Beard Growth Chart on it. Love that shirt! According to it, I am proud to say that I have now graduated to Caveman status. How cool is that?!

As great as that is, it is only about halfway to my retirement goal of Hillbilly status. LOL.

Having said that, what status are you at, my beardiful brother?

  • Manly
  • Caveman
  • Trucker
  • Grandpa
  • Sea Captain
  • Hillbilly
  • Big Grizzly
  • Hippy
  • Professor
  • Lumberjack
  • Amish
  • Wizard
While the above photo clearly doesn’t show all the categories, for me the Wizard length is in line with the belly button. Respect to those of you who have attained that feat. Peace.

Best Dog Quote Ever?

Dedicated to
Man’s Best Friend

Well here we are in December once again. Wasn’t 2020 quite the ride? Wow! Lots of changes for sure! If nothing else, it was entertaining, in a twisted sort of way. Can I say that? While we all no doubt hope that 2021 will be better, the Doubting Thomas in me says I’ll believe it when I see it. Sorry if that comes across as a bit of a downer.

As I took down my dog-themed calendar off the kitchen wall to flip over to this last month of the year, I took a moment to flip through the pages of the previous months. While there are lots of great quotes and awesome dog pictures, there was one quote that stood out for me more than all the others. It is this:

“If I could be half the person my dog is,

I’d be twice the human I am.” (Charles Yu)

I like that! Chew on that for a bit! Is that not the best dog quote ever? I cannot help but think that there is some truth to that. Dogs are awesome, and certainly more awesome than some people I know. As someone once said, “Dogs are definitely less duplicitous than people are.”

Well there you have it. Woof.
