Old Wheels of Yesteryear

My mind was flooded with memories of yesteryear when I found this old picture. It’s hard to believe that this was 40+ years ago! It was the late 1970’s when I set out on a cross-Canada solo hitchhiking trip, eventually ending up in the Vancouver, BC area. This truck was purchased shortly thereafter.

It was a fun old truck, though it was still fairly new at that time. It was a 1976 GMC short box. With its V8 and headers, it was loud! I remember half-joking that you could hear me coming three blocks away. And fast? It could pass anything, anything that is, except a gas station.

For interest’s sake, the building in the background is none other than the old BC Penitentiary.

My, how times have changed. 😎
